Fidelity dominate but Crick score the winning goal with 3 minutes to spare - Jets 2 Crick 3

Our first game of the season, and our first game playing in the womens league after moving up from the youth U18's last season. We were all a bit nervous but also very excited about playing up that next level. It was a surprisingly warmer day than expected sitting on 22 degrees in the sun. The pitch was in very good condition and nicely cut as you would expect for the first game of the season.

The game started off a bit scrappy for both teams with not many passes finding their mark, but things soon started to settle down and after 15 minutes, the Jets ladies started working as a team a bit better resulting in quite a few shots on goal. We defended very well reducing Crick to having very few shots on our goal. Our first goal came in the 25th minute by Kayleigh M. Just before half time, Crick won a free kick about 25 yards out. Crick found a very narrow gap between our defensive wall and the far post. Our keeper Wiktoria made a huge dive to her left, just getting her hand to it, but was not enough to keep it out of the net. A good goal by Crick. 1-1 at half time.

The 2nd half started just like the first, very scrappy again from both teams. In the 55th minute, Alisha scored our 2nd goal. We still had a bit more possession than Crick had in the 2nd half but failed to convert our goal scoring attempts into any further goals. With 5 minutes to go before full time, Crick scored the equaliser against the run of play. 2 minutes later, Crick sensed they had a chance here, so put everything into moving the ball forward, getting all their attacking players forward, which payed off scoring their 3rd.

The final score was a bit disappointing but going by how well we dominated the play for most of the game, it was a very good first taste of the Womens competition, and I know we're going to be in for a very exciting season. Well played ladies!!
