Quite a windy afternoon with a strong wind blowing across the pitch. Considering we had had a lot of rain overnight, the pitch was in good condition with both teams looking forward to playing some football.
Fidelity Ladies soon scored 6 minutes from kick off. Our passing and ball control was a bit better than Rising Hope which resulted in fairly regular goals throughout the game. We also pressed high, making it difficult for them to get out of their own half. The pressure often forcing some mistakes from their defense, giving us some scoring opportunities. Rising Hope had 3 debutants playing today who hadnt played for a few years. We also had one in Emma who played in midfield for us. Considering she also hadn't played for a few years, there were no signs of any rustiness, with her ball control and distribution being top quality. A great addition to our team.
Half Time: 11-0
Second half, our passing sequences stepped up a couple of notches, producing some great football to watch.
Rising Hope did have a couple of half scoring opportunities but with the ball either getting stuck at their feet or one too many touches, giving our defense that extra second or 2 to apply enough pressure to force any shots high, wide or simply rushed, not getting enough power on the shot.
Credit to the Rising Hope Ladies though. They never gave up and despite the growing scoreline, they still seemed to enjoy their football, which is always great to see.
Our standout player was Sofia in defense. She played some amazing football with some turns and control we hadn't seen from her before. A well earned Player of the Match and agreed by all her team mates.
All our ladies had a great game and confidence levels were high right from the start resulting in some good football.
Well played ladies!!
