Fidelity Ladies v Moulton Ladies

The afternoon was overcast and a bit cool, but the sun came out later in the 2nd half. This was to be our first game on a 3G pitch so bounce and ball skid were a bit of an unknown.

Our opposition today vs Moulton Ladies, who came 2nd in the League last season out of 14 teams, were going to be a good test for us.

In the first half, we actually held our own, and it ended up being an evenly matched half, although we did have a couple of shots on goal whereas Moulton didn't.

In the 2nd half, we played a slightly more attacking game which saw us have many more goal scoring opportunities. Sadly, we were unable to convert into goals. Against the general run of play, they scored 2 goals to our 1. Mia earned Player of the Match with her calmness and strength when defending, and actually got to have a decent shot at goal. Shanice scored our only goal, but did it in style, getting past 3 defenders before calmly slotting the ball in wide of the keeper.

Overall, our ladies played really well and even though Moulton scored 2 goals against us, they never actually got in behind us, which says a lot for our defense. We always felt we were in the game, and in fact, we never thought we couldn't win this. The football gods had other ideas today, but thats the game of football for you. It certainly made for an exciting game to watch.
